What to do once your webstore goes live

What to do once your webstore goes live

Info
A website is a hungry beast. What you get out of it depends on how you feed it.

1. Update your business & social profiles

You’re on Facebook or Instagram, but when was the last time you checked your Google or Apple map listings? Update your business profiles so customers can easily find your brand-new website.

Google Business Profile - https://business.google.com/
Meta (Facebook & Instagram) Business - https://business.facebook.com/
Apple Business Connect - https://businessconnect.apple.com/
Microsoft Bing Business - https://www.bingplaces.com/

2. Write a blog post

Blogs are a vital way to add fresh content for your site, boost SEO and build trust with search engines. Some blog ideas: New Arrivals, Seasonal Products, Tips & Tricks.

3. Connect to free sales channels & marketplaces

With webstore products setup, you're just one step away from generating website traffic (SEO backlinks) & attracting new customers for free.  Manage product feeds through your website admin & the business profiles you have setup.
Notes
Save time setting up sales channels by using your website admin. There may be other opportunities as well. For example, platforms like Shopify have Shop, a platform that targets mobile customers.  https://www.shopify.com/au/shop

4. Engage customers online

With each online order, customer details are added to your customer database. Leverage your platform's email marketing tools or find one that’s right for you. When using social media, don’t forget to mention your website each time you share updates. i.e. new product arrivals. To boost website traffic & attract new customers, run a small ad campaign through platforms with high usership. For example, Google, YouTube, Facebook & Instagram.

5. Engage your instore customers

Print an A4 poster with your website address & prompt customers to order online. Pop one on the counter or in your store front. Use an online generator to include a handy QR code.

6. Keep your stock up to date

Make sure that your stock titles are up to date, that they have the correct webstore prices and remove items that you no longer stock.
Important brand and product info should be searchable and found in product titles & descriptions. Product range descriptions should be at least 350 characters long and in the first 350 characters should contain the keywords, repeated 5 times throughout.

Notes
Final & most important tip 7:

7. Schedule regular check-ins

How often do you change store displays or bring in new product arrivals? Use instore changes as guide on what you can do online.
Use your platform's analysis & reporting tools to see what’s working and what’s not. This is invaluable information to see where you can take your website next.
Keep your website visually refreshed with new homepage content. Consider a new style or theme every 18 months to keep customers interested.

Idea
Pop a monthly calendar reminder or two. Check in on your online presence & review your online sales regularly.
