This is for Newsagencies Only

The MPA (Magazine Publishers of Australia) have come together to create a magazine category system to make it easier for customers to find the magazine they’re looking for, and see similar magazines in the same area. This Advice Sheet will run through how to use the categories for your magazines and will allow new magazines imported electronically to automatically be placed in the correct category.

Implementing MPA Categories

This function will remove all of the categories within your magazines department and replace them with the MPA categories and segments. It will then run through your magazines and place them into the correct categories.

  1. From the main screen of Retailer, go to Utilities -> Implement MPA Categories.
  2. If prompted for a password, enter it in and click OK.
  3. Select your magazine department from the drop-down box, then click on Process.
  4. You will be asked to confirm that you want to delete all categories within the magazines department and replace them with the MPA categories. Press Yes.
  5. Retailer will now begin processing your magazine stock into the correct categories and segments.
  6. Occasionally, the Find Stock Screen may appear and you will need to select the correct parent item for some of your magazines. You can do this by double-clicking on the correct item, or selecting it and pressing OK.
  7. If the items shown in the list both have the same Supplier Stock Code (SSC), but you know that only one of them is supposed to have that code, follow these instructions:
    1. Select the correct item, and press Only this Parent Item uses this Supplier Stock Code.
    2. A confirmation box will appear explaining the consequences of this action. If you click Yes, all other stock items with this SSC will have it removed. If you click No, it will leave the SSCs alone and continue processing the rest of the stock.

Now when you arrive invoices through EDI, the magazines will automatically be placed into the correct categories.
