Many tablets and some new laptops are now using ARM processors (often branded as Snapdragon) instead of x64 processors (Intel, AMD) that are found in desktop computers. These new processors can have compatibility issues with some software.
To the best of our knowledge, all versions of Retailer will work without issue on laptops / Windows-based tablets with ARM processors. This includes multi-store cloud-based Retailer, and our browser-based software Roam. (Please note that local installations of Retailer (non-cloud) will run slower on a POS with a wifi connection - a wired internet connection is required to achieve good speeds.)
There is one major drawback with ARM processors, and that is receipt printing. To our knowledge, there are currently no receipt printers that will work on a Snapdragon/ARM device. ARM devices require different printer drivers than full size PCs, and these drivers are not yet available for receipt printers.
A4 printers may work, if the manufacturer has created drivers for ARM processors. You should be able to look up your printer model on the manufacturer's website to determine if it will work on your device.
Barcode scanners should work without issue. For EFTPOS machines, contact your bank / EFTPOS provider.
