As mentioned in the Installing Retailer Updates article, you should NOT have Retailer running on ANY computer while running updates.

If you do, you may encounter error messages similar to the ones below:

  • When installing Retailer update - Code 5 Error

  • When installing Retailer update - Communication with Serialisation server cannot be established

  • During the data check of the update - Unexpected exception object raised: Error in statement: Unable to open table...

  • On opening Retailer after failed update - Error creating dictionary field...

To resolve these errors:

  1. Close Retailer on ALL computers, restart the computer.
  2. Try running the update again, without opening Retailer first. Make sure that no one uses Retailer until the update is complete.
If you see error messages when opening Retailer on POS computers, make sure you have run the update on the POS as well. All computers should have the same version of Retailer installed.
