0:01 Hey there guys. So we're going to look at now setting up a receipt printer and a cash drawer. I've got my cash drawer just hiding down here. 0:07 I don't need it on the desk. But let's just go through it. So the first thing is your receipt printer will come in a box. 0:13 Inside the box there will be the printer itself. There will be a small roll of paper like that. We don't need this one. 0:22 You'll have a full receipt roll that comes with it. Otherwise you'll need to buy some, you'll get a spacer, which we don't need. 0:28 So throw that away. You'll also get some other brackets. What do we need out of the box though? We do need the power brick and the power cable that goes into the brick. 0:37 Okay, so you've got regular power and the other little end there. Now you'll notice this part has a flat bottom here and the rest of it is rounded. 0:47 So that's the bottom. Okay? You'll also need the USB cable, which is a USB type A in one end, and a USB type B. 0:59 In the other end, this B type end goes in the printer and this end goes in the computer. Okay, so we'll just plug those in. 1:08 Now we'll turn this printer around. We'll have a look at where those cables go. So if we can see there, so you've got your printer power that goes there. 1:18 This is an ethernet port for a network connection if you're using an ethernet over USB. Instead, there's a USB port that goes there. 1:27 And if we look here, we have the Cash Drawer kicker port. So the Cash Drawer cable, which looks like a phone line that goes in there. Clicks in nice and solid, won't pull out power cable with the bottom at, with the flat part there at the bottom. 1:48 I'm going to turn that around and that goes in there and it clicks in a little bit. And now if I pull on it, it's locked in. 1:52 If you want to pull that out, you've gotta pull on that little where that flatbed is. It's a, this sort of locking mechanism. 2:00 And the USB port goes in like so that's all plugged in 2:09 To open the printer. We pull this gray tab here. Sometimes it's a button. There we go. And this one already has paper inside. 2:18 I'll just pull that out. There's always a little picture there that shows you how the paper goes in. Put that in there like that. 2:26 Give it a close and just quickly plug it in. 2:38 There we go. Now if you don't get a light on the top sometimes the generally the power button is always on the front. 2:45 So it's just a little switch on and switch off just like that. Now we're going to have a look at playing with this on the computer. 2:54 Okay, so you've plugged in your receipt printer. So the first thing we wanna do is we wanna make sure that your computer's detecting the printer. 2:59 So we're going to go to control panel. So I click on the start button, I type the word control, and I click on devices and printers. 3:08 And if we look down here, I can see the name of my printer. It's an Epson TM82III. It's detected. 3:14 If it wasn't detected, there's a very good chance that it's turned off. So I've just turned it off. If I turn it back on, 3:21 Your computer should then pick it up and it will show it up down here. Now it's technically not installed yet. 3:26 The printer's detecting, sure, but the driver needs to be installed. So you need to know the type of printer that you have. 3:32 Now if for some reason you're not seeing it there and you dunno where to look to find the printer's name, sorry about the noise. 3:40 On this printer, there's a label on the bottom and it says Epson TM82III. Sometimes it could be on the side as well. 3:47 So you just look for a grey sticker like that back there. So we're going to go to the Tower Systems website to get the driver for this printer. 3:57 So towersystems.com au. I've signed in, I'm just going to move my face out of the way we go. Downloads here. And if we scroll down a little bit, the printer driver is here. 4:07 So you'll see there are quite a few Epson and drivers and that's cause there are different ones for different models. 4:12 We've got the 82III. So we click on that to download it. Once it's downloaded, we can click on it to run it. 4:22 It shows loading screen. 4:25 So we get this screen. So we're just gonna click on Next. We're gonna click on agree and install. And on this screen all we need to do is change the port type from com to usb. 4:54 Otherwise, if you are using, if you are using an ethernet connection, you would go ethernet and put in the IP address. 4:59 That's for more advanced users, but USB is the most standard. So we go with that, we hit save. And if you wanna see if it works, hit test print where she goes click on close and she's ready to rock and roll. 5:14 We cover the other settings inside retailer and another video. Check that one out next.
