Setting up Star MCP30 Receipt Printer

Identify Model and Ports

Before installing the printer driver, identify the model number and the type of connection being used (e.g USB or Ethernet).
  1. For the model number, look on the sticker at the bottom of the printer.

  1. For the port, remove the back cover to see which port is being used.


Installing the Printer Driver

1. Close Retailer if it is open.
2. Click HERE to go to the official Star Micronics website and enter in your model number.
3. On the download page of your Star receipt printer, download the Star Windows Software Setup EXE File (or similar if using a different model).
4. Once downloaded, install the driver software all the way through.

USB connection

1. If using a USB connection, you can turn off the receipt printer and back on for Windows to automatically install it with the correct driver.

Ethernet connection

1. If using an Ethernet connection, open your Windows Start menu and find the Star Windows Software -> Printer Utility.
2. Select your model in the list of available models, click Next and select Ethernet on the next page.
3. Click Search Network for it to find your Star receipt printer on the network and click Done after it's been assigned.
4. Name the Receipt printer how you want, e.g MCP30, and click OK and Done.
5. On the main Printer Utility window, click on Windows Printer Queue Management and press the Add button.
6. Name the printer device the same as what was previously used in step 4, e.g MCP30, and close out of the Printer Utility.


Adjusting the Scaling

1. Open your Windows Start menu and search for Printers & scanners.
2. Find your named Star receipt printer in the list and select it.
3. Click on Manage and then Printer Properties.
4. Click on the Device Settings tab, find the Scaling setting and then click the + box to expand it.
5. Change the Factor % to 90% and click Apply.



Disabling Print-End State monitoring

1. In the Printer properties for your Star receipt printer, click on the Star / Help tab and select Configure Port.
2. Click the option for Not monitor print-end by each print job and press OK.
3. Click OK to exit the printer properties.




Setup in Retailer

Once the printer driver has been installed, Retailer needs to be configured to use the printer driver.
Click HERE for instructions on setting up receipt printing in Retailer.
In the Printer option, select Star Printer.

If you have a cash drawer, that will also need to be configured in Retailer.
