This advice sheet contains information on how to connect a cash drawer to a register computer and configure Retailer correctly. This is the recommended installation method for connecting cash drawers supplied by Tower Systems. In order for the cash drawer to work, the receipt printer must also be set up correctly.

Connecting the Cash Drawer

  1. The image below shows the underside of the cash drawer. The keys and the cash drawer cable should both be connected to it. If they are not there, call Tower Systems support.

  2. The next image shows the cash drawer cable. The connector on the end plugs into the receipt printer.

  3. The next image shows the back of a typical receipt printer. The connector from the cash drawer plugs into the socket marked Cashdraw Connection at the back of the printer.

Retailer Settings

Retailer needs to be correctly configured to pop the cash drawer after each sale. These settings are stored individually for each computer so the steps below need to be performed on each computer with a cash drawer.
  1. On the top menu bar of Retailer, click on Setup -> Point Of Sale.
  2. Click on the Terminals tab.
  3. Take note of the Till ID (eg. TILL01) for the row highlighted in yellow.
  4. Click on the Till Setup tab.
  5. For the Till ID that you noted down earlier, tick Cash Draw.
  6. Click Save and then Close.
  7. Close and restart Retailer.
