How to Sell a Gift Voucher / Card

Retailer has the ability to allow customers to purchase gift vouchers, acting as a form of currency redeemable in the store. This can be used to offer a convenient, flexible, and thoughtful present, allowing recipients to choose their own goods or services from a specific store or range of stores (multi-store), reducing the risk of unwanted gifts while giving the buyer an easy, last-minute option.

They can also be used as part of a local competition or community donation.

Selling Gift Vouchers

If you use Retailer's generated gift voucher barcodes, follow the steps below:

1. From the Point of Sale screen:
• On the keyboard, press [Ctrl]+[G].
  
• Click on the on-screen button. If you do not have a gift voucher button, click HERE for a guide to setting up the POS screen.
  
2. You will then need to enter a voucher value using the on-screen keypad or your keyboard.
   
3. Then, process the sale or scan/process any extra stock items before ending the sale.
   

If you are selling multiple vouchers of the same value, press the Qty button at the top left of the POS screen to set a quantity, then press Enter on the keyboard before selling the Gift Voucher stock item.

Selling Gift Cards

If you use pre-printed gift cards, follow the steps below:

1. From the Point of Sale screen:
• On the keyboard, press [Ctrl]+[G].
• Click on the on-screen button. If you do not have a gift card button, click HERE for a guide to setting up the POS screen.
  
2. You will then need to enter a gift card value using the on-screen keypad or your keyboard.
   
3. Then, process the sale or scan/process any extra stock items before ending the sale. The Sale Items List screen will appear.
   
4. Scan the gift card barcode to use.
   
5. Click Save.
   

FAQ

Below is a list of frequently asked questions about gift vouchers and gift cards:

Printing gift voucher barcodes

New gift voucher barcodes are printed during a transaction. Existing gift voucher barcodes can be reprinted from the Previous Sales window or via the Gift Voucher Management window.

You cannot print gift voucher barcodes using the Label Setup Utility. The Label Setup Utility can only be used to queue up stock item barcodes. Consider reading our How to donate Gift Vouchers advice sheet for information on.

Can I discount a gift voucher?

When the Allow Discount setting is enabled for the Gift Voucher stock item and department, automatic and manual discounts can be applied to the gift voucher to lower the price while still maintaining the original gift voucher value.
