Customer Self-Checkout Setup

All of these settings, with the exception of pairing your EFTPOS can be completed any terminal.  You do not need to set these on the physical kiosk.  However you must perform the pairing of your eftpos terminal on your Kiosk. 

Windows Setup

Windows needs to be correctly configured to make it secure and to enable it to load the kiosk program when the kiosk starts up after a restart.  If you have purchased the kiosk unit from Tower Systems, it will be delivered with Windows correctly configured. The Kiosk will also come with TeamViewer Host installed so that you (and we) can access it easily.

If you have sourced a third-party kiosk, it is important that your kiosk is correctly configured and set up in kiosk mode. To help with this, we have a package available for purchase here and we can configure it for you.

Kiosk Desktop Icon

As part of the installation process you should already have the Red Kiosk shortcut on your desktop.  However, if you do not, you can add it by:
  1. Right Click on your Desktop and click on New --> Shortcut
  2. Click on Browse
  3. Navigate to the C:\Tower\Retailer\Program folder and pick the Kiosk.exe from the list.
  4. You should then have the icon on your desktop. 

Staff Setup

Please ensure that you have at least one staff member added to Retailer, and you have at least one staff member with a PIN added. This PIN is used to access ADMIN settings in the Kiosk, such as closing the Kiosk, deleting items, and canceling sales. It is recommended for audit tracking purposes that you assign all staff members a PIN so actions can be tracked if needed. If you need to add a staff member, the advice can be found here.

To set a PIN against staff members, please follow the steps below:
  1. From the Retailer Main Screen, click on Setup → General.
  2. Select the staff member you want to add the PIN to.
  3. Click on ‘Set Pin’ in the top right corner.
  4. In the Set Pin screen, enter the initials you want to set the PIN against, and then enter the desired PIN number.
  5. Click on OK.
  6. Please repeat the process for any other staff member you want to assign a PIN against.
Staff Pin Numbers must be unique

Payment Method Setup

This must be completed on the physical kiosk.
Please ensure that you have attached your pin pad to the kiosk and completed the pairing process with either the Tyro or Linkly integrations.  

Receipt Printer Setup

Please ensure you have installed the receipt printer and have set up the Retailer Report mapping as per the instructions here
