Closing a multi-store location

Closing a multi-store location

Closing a location in a multistore environment involves a sequence of decisions and technical steps. The work required depends on how you want stock, customers, sales history, and user access handled. Before we can begin, we need answers to the questions below. Once we have this information we can prepare a quote.

Stock on hand

Tell us whether all remaining stock at the closing location should be moved in bulk to another location in the system.

Customers

Confirm whether customer records from the closing location should be transferred to another location.

Sales data

There are three ways to handle the sales history for the closing location.

Option 1
Keep the location active so that full historical data remains available. This option requires an ongoing subscription for that location.

Option 2
Move all sales from the closing location into another active location. This merges the sales history and will change reporting because data from both locations becomes combined. After this is completed, the closing location can be deleted.

Option 3
If all reports and historical information required for compliance are already stored elsewhere, you may choose to remove the raw sales data entirely. With this option the closing location can be deleted.

Number of Users

Let us know how many user accounts linked to the closing location need to remain active if your business is hosted by us.

Webstore

If you have a webstore (TWC) link to a web platform like Shopify, let us know whether this location is on the webstore. Depending on what is done with the stock on hand, this stock can be combined into remaining locations on Shopify, or deactivated.
