Adding Order Numbers to Sales
Retailer allows you to add an Order Number to sales that are made in the POS screen. These order numbers will appear on receipt, invoices and order dockets, and will now also be displayed in the sales total / change box that appears after ending a sale.
Prior to Retailer 3.3.2, order numbers had to be added via the delivery details screen. There are now multiple other, simpler ways to add order numbers. You can also automatically generate an order number when ending the sale.
For the basics of customising the POS screen, click
HERETo add a POS button for Order Numbers, follow these steps:
- In the POS screen, click the gear/cog icon up the top-right, then click Edit.
- Click an empty space or an unused button. If you do not have room, you may need to add more buttons - see the guide above.
- In the the little pop-up window, change the Button Type to 'Action'.
- Change the Action Type to 'Order Number'.
- Click the gear/cog icon again, then click Save to save your changes.
You can now click this Order Numbers button to add an order number to an ongoing sale. Type the number and click OK or press [Enter].
Prompting for Order Number when Ending a Sale / Automatically Generating Order Numbers
You can now set the options in Retailer to automatically prompt for an order number when ending a sale. You can also set an option to automatically generate an Order number. Both of these options must be set individually for each terminal.
- From the main menu of Retailer, go to Setup -> Point of Sale
- Click the 'Terminals' tab, then in the second row of tabs further down, the 'Other' tab
- For Order Number prompting, tick 'Always Prompt for Order Number'
For Automatic Order Numbers, tick 'Automatically Create Order Numbers'. - Click Save, then close Retailer and open it up again.
Automatically generated Order Numbers use the last 3 digits of the sales stamp. After reaching 999, they will loop around again.
Order numbers can also be added via Delivery Details, along with other extra details like name and delivery address. For more on this, see
HERE. To turn this on or off, see
