Adding a button to the POS screen
For a video demonstration and a general overview of adjusting your POS layout, click
HEREClick the gear symbol in the top-right of the Point of Sale screen, followed by the Edit button to enter layout design mode.
Changes you make in layout design mode are NOT saved automatically. When you have finished making changes, click the gear icon again and click Save to overwrite your existing layout, or Save As to create a new layout. Click Cancel to discard your changes.
First, you will need to add blank buttons that you can then edit. If you already have blank buttons available, skip the next section.
If you have unused space in your POS layout:
- Click the gear icon in the top right
- Click add button to create a blank button OR add all buttons to fill the available space
If you do not have any room for new buttons, you will have to create more space. You can add more columns or rows of buttons by clicking the gear icon, then changing the numbers in Layout Settings. You can then add buttons as described above.
If you do not wish to add more columns/rows, you can use Submenu buttons. Clicking a submenu takes you to a new page of buttons. See below for more details.
- Click the button you wish to edit.
- From the drop down box under Button Type, select the type of button you wish to create. The button types are explained below. For this example, we will be creating a barcode button.
- Depending on the button type selected, the field below will change. Select the function of the button here.
- In Button Text, enter the text you wish to appear on the button.
- Click the colour fields next to Button Colour or Text Colour to select the colours of your button.
- (Optional) Instead of changing the text/colour of the button, you can instead add an image by clicking the Add Image button and selecting the file on your computer.
You can now move on to editing more buttons. Once you have finished, click the gear icon again, then click Save to save your changes.
Changes made on one POS will automatically appear on any other POS that uses the same layout. Just close and re-open Retailer to pick up the changes.
If you wish to add a button for items with no barcode, where you can manually enter a price or set a price with the key pad, you can do that by using the Department Sales feature. This needs some setup so that a button can be linked to it.
