Classifications allow you to categorise your stock with more detail. This allows you to view more information about your stock items and also narrow your search results through the Advanced Stock Search feature.

Understanding Classifications

There are three components within the classifications feature:

  • The hierarchy of classifications begins with Classification Types, which is typically the type of stock item (eg. Shirts, Bikes, Firearms).
  • Within each Classification Type, you can have any number of Classifications (eg. Size, Colour, Model).
  • Then within each Classification, there will be Classification Details relating to the Classification (eg. In Size you might have Small/Medium/Large).

Setting Up Stock Classifications

To access the Setup Classifications screen:

  1. On the top menu bar of Retailer, click on Setup -> System.
  2. Click on the Stock tab on the top-left.
  3. Click Setup Classification.

The Setup Classification screen will appear. You will see that there are a number of common, pre-existing classifications. You can use these or set up your own.

Setting Up Classification Types

  1. From the Setup Classifications screen, click on Add.
  2. In the white bar at the top, type in the Classification Type.
  3. Click on the plus (+) sign.
  4. Repeat to add other Classification Types.
  5. Click Save.

Setting Up Classifications

  1. From the Setup Classifications screen, click on Setup.
  2. In the Classifications section:
    • In the white bar at the top, type in the Classification.
    • Click on the plus (+) sign.
    • Repeat to add other Classifications.
  3. Click Save.
AlertIf you also use Variants and sync your stock to a webstore (eg. Shopify), make sure that none of your classifications have the exact same name as your variant options (eg. COLOUR, SIZE). Clashing names can prevent items from syncing to your website.

Setting Up Classification Details

  1. From the Setup Classifications screen, click on Setup.
  2. Select the particular classification on the left-side of the screen.
  3. In the Classification Details section:
    • In the white bar at the top, type in the Classification Detail.
    • Click on the plus (+) sign.
    • Repeat to add other Classification Details.
  4. Click Save.

Assign Classifications to Classification Types

  1. On the Setup Classifications screen, the Classification Types and Classifications will be displayed.
  2. For each Classification Type, double-click on the tick-box for each Classification that will apply to it.
  3. Click Save.

Assigned Classifications to Stock Items

Once classifications have been set up, they can then be applied to stock items.

  1. From the main screen of Retailer, click on Stock -> Stock Screen.
  2. Click on the magnifying glass icon to search for and select the particular item.
  3. Click on the Classifications tab.
  4. Select the Classification Type to use from the drop-down box.
  5. Select the respective Classifications and Classification Details.
  6. Click Save.
