Setting Up CAS PDN Weighing Scales with Retailer
Retailer can integrate with the CAS PDN scales, allowing stock items that require a weight when sold to be accurately weighed when scanned from the point of sale.
Hardware Setup
- Ensure that your CAS scale is properly connected to your computer. The cable connection should be a USB Type-B cable.
- Windows should automatically install the required driver.
- Open the Device Manager by pressing the Windows key + R, then type devmgmt.msc and press Enter. Alternatively, you can right-click the Windows icon on the taskbar and select Device Manager.
- Inside the Device Manager, look for Ports (COM & LPT) in the list and double-click it to expand the list.
- Note down what COM port your USB Serial Port is set to. E.g. COM4.
Retailer Requirements
- Confirm that your account has access to the Scales module. You can check this from the main screen of Retailer, click Help -> Register.
Note: If the Scales module is not ticked, you will need to contact our help desk to enable it. - Ensure that you are on at least Retailer version 3.4.2 to access the CAS model option with the scales integration.
Retailer Settings
- From the main screen of Retailer, click on Setup -> Point of Sale -> Terminals -> Third Party Integration.
- Under Scales Attached, tick the Enabled tickbox.
- Name: Select the correct COM port. E.g COM4.
- Protocol: ECR Type #2
- BaudRate: 9600
- Data Bits: 7
- Stop Bits: 1
- Parity: Even
- Click Save.
- Press the Test button to confirm your scales integration is set up correctly.
Note: It will return a weight value if there is a connection, otherwise it will return a timeout message instead.
