What are Security Passwords in Retailer?
There are 4 levels of security in Retailer:
- Level A - No Security, used for open access to areas like POS
- Level B - Minimum Security, could be used for supervisors in a larger business or as a prompt that this function is being monitored and staff need to be careful when using it.
- Level C - Medium Security, used for managers for things like discounts, cancelled and deleted sales
- Level D - High Security, used for owners only, for system settings and changing security settings
How do I change my level D Password?
To change your level D password or any other level password you must know the current level D password. If you don’t know your current level D password, this can only be reset by Tower Systems. To do this you must provide written authorization to Tower Systems to have it reset. This must be signed by the owner and clearly state the business name and your desire to have the password reset. This should be scanned and emailed to us.
Changing a Password
- From the Main Screen of Retailer, go to Utilities > Change System Passwords.
- You will be asked to enter the Level D password. This is the current High Security password in your system as you haven’t entered a new one yet. Enter the current Level D password.
- Click on the security level password you’d like to change.
- If you’re changing a non-default password, you will need to enter the current password for that level first, then continue to Step 5.
- Enter the new password you’d like for that level, then enter it again exactly as you did the first time.
NOTE: Passwords in Retailer are not case-sensitive, so a password of “abCd” is the same as “ABCD” and “abcd”. - If you wish, you can type in a password hint to remind you of the password (try to not make it too obvious). It is best if you don’t type the password into the Hint box, as that defeats the purpose of having passwords.
- Click OK to save the password.
- If you’d like to change other passwords, repeats steps 3-7 for the appropriate level.
- When you’re finished, click Close.
