Retailer provides a number of methods to re-order stock from your supplier based on sales and/or current quantities. This means that you can reorder based on your actual data, instead of relying on your gut or a supply rep going through your store. In short, this will ultimately save time and money by:

  • Reducing mistakes from ordering incorrect stock as you are using the exact stock details within Retailer.
  • Using the quantity-on-hand or sales quantities so you don't have to walk through the store and check the stock on the shelves.

Before using any of the methods below, the following guidelines will assist in more accurate figures:

  • Supplier information (address, e-mail) is set up properly.
  • Stock is arrived in Retailer through Invoice Arrivals, as opposed to simply changing quantity-on-hand numbers.
  • Stock items have barcodes and these barcodes are scanned during sales, as opposed to using department buttons.
  • Perform a stocktake or have one that was done recently.

Reordering Methods

Below are some of the more common methods. Click on each one to learn how to use them:

  • Using the Supplier Sales Analysis Report
    • The report shows each stock item, the current quantity-on-hand and the number sold within a date range for a particular supplier.
    • Gives you a quick glance at what products are selling well and what needs to be ordered.
    • Orders are not created automatically in Retailer but can be used when a supply rep visits.
  • Using the Order By Sales Utility
    • Displays quantity of stock sold within a particular date range and arrived after a particular date.
    • Can be run for specific suppliers and/or departments/categories.
    • Orders can be created automatically from this utility using the quantity sold. The quantity can be adjusted as well, if necessary.
  • Using the Reorder Report and Desired Quantities
    • Requires setting up desired quantities for stock items but reduces a lot of guess-work when reordering.
    • Once set up, is very automated and requires little input from the user.
    • Can be run for specific suppliers and/or departments/categories.
    • Takes existing orders into consideration and can adjust quantities based on this.
