For our guide to pairing an Element P303BT scanner to a tablet, see
HERESetting up an Element scanner on a PC is easy - you plug in the cradle, sit the scanner on it and wait for the battery to charge, and then start using it - no install required. It can also be paired directly to a device via Bluetooth - see our guide above for setting this up.
However, there are some settings on the scanner you will need to change. Scanner settings are changed by scanning special programming barcodes.

When scanning a programming barcode, the scanner will make a different beep than normal.

These instructions are for the Element P303BT scanner only. Do not follow these steps for other scanners.
Programming your Scanner
We have created a printable document with a number of barcodes that you will need to scan to program your scanner.
For most businesses, you will only need to scan the barcode in the middle marked 'Add Carriage Return Suffix'.
For newsagencies, you will also need to scan all the barcodes on the left side of the document, one after the other in order, left-to-right, top-to-bottom. This allows the scanner to read magazine issue numbers.
Jewellers will also need to scan the barcodes on the right side of the document, in order, top-to-bottom. This allows the scanner to read jewellery labels.
- Download the document named 'Element P303BT Setup.pdf' from the bottom of this article.
- Print out this PDF document.
- Scan the barcodes on the PDF as described above.
Resetting a Scanner back to Default Settings
Sometimes it may be necessary to reset a scanner back to its default settings - this can be because a mistake was made with other programming barcodes, or because the scanner is behaving erratically. To reset a scanner, follow these steps:
- Download the document named 'Element P303BT Reset.pdf' from the bottom of this article.
- Print out this PDF document.
- Scan the barcode on the PDF.
After resetting a scanner, it will be necessary to follow the steps above to re-program your scanner.
