To ensure that Retailer operates as intended, the following needs to be configured before installing and using Retailer.

Notes
Tower can also perform the setup, but there is a setup fee for computers not supplied by Tower. You can find the setup fee and book the setup HERE.

Computer Names and Usernames

  • You can use any name you wish; We suggest naming them something that makes sense to what the use is
    e.g. MAIN - POS1 - POS2 - OFFICE1
  • IMPORTANT: If replacing an existing computer, you should use the same computer name to keep Retailer-specific settings intact. Otherwise, you will need to set them up again (e.g. printers, screen display).

Networking

  • Set up static IP addresses.
  • Set network as Private Network.
  • Turn on network discovery and file and print sharing.
  • Configure network drive mapping on client terminals - C: drive of server mapped to N: drive on clients terminals. (Newsagencies only)

Drive & Folder Options

  • Provide Full Control for the logged-in user to the C:\Tower folder under the Security tab.

Other Profile Settings

  • Set the Regional and Language settings to English (Australia) and ensure that the date formats are set to DD/MM/YYYY.
  • Set the default keyboard to English (US).
  • Power Management - Set to never turn off the monitor or put the computer to Sleep Mode, and disable fast startup

Additional Software to Install

  • Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5 or newer.

Security

  • Create full antivirus exception for the C:\Tower folder.
  • Create full firewall exceptions for the following files:

    • C:\Tower\Retailer\Program\MSOutpostServerV3.exe

Technical Security

This section may need to involve an IT technician if relevant.
Alert
This is only needed if all other settings have been done and Retailer terminals cannot connect to each other.
