Despite having the same title, these magazines are not the same and in fact, have different Supplier Stock Codes.
For example, the TV WEEK STANDARD has a code of 91400 while the TV WEEK COUNTRY has a code of 91401.
However, they are given the same barcode.
This means they need to be set up and handled in a specific way to ensure arrivals, credits and quantity-on-hand figures are accurate.
Set Up
These titles must be set to use the same barcode for every issue. As it is using a barcode that is different from the barcode printed on the magazine, you will also want to print a barcode label whenever it arrives:
- In the Stock Screen, click on the magnifying glass icon to access the Find Stock Screen.
- Search for the parent item of the METRO title in particular.
Select it and click OK. - Click on the Other tab.
Tick the Print Barcode on Arrival tick-box. - Click on the Newsagency tab.
Tick the Use the same barcode for each issue tick-box. - Click Save.
- Repeat steps 2-5 for the parent item of the COUNTRY title.
Merging Into Parent Items
To prevent confusion and to make sure all the data is in one place, the child items of each title will need to be merged into the parent item.
You should only have a single parent item for the STANDARD/METRO and another single parent item for the COUNTRY.
If this is already the case for you, you can skip this section.
- On the top menu bar of Retailer, click on the Utilities -> Change/Merge Barcodes.
- In the first box, enter the barcode of the child item for the METRO title.
Alternatively, press [Enter] to search in the Find Stock Screen. - In the second box, enter the barcode of the parent item for the METRO title.
- Press [Tab] or [Enter].
The barcodes will then go into the list below. - Repeat the steps above until all the child items have been entered.
- Click Modify All.
- Repeat steps 2-6 for the COUNTRY title.
Arrivals, Sales and Returns
On arrival, barcode labels will be added to the Barcode Manager queue and can then be printed to be stuck on the magazines.
For sales, scan the barcode on the label that was printed and stuck on the magazine.
For returns, scan the barcode on the label that was printed and stuck on the magazine.
You will then need to select the particular issue to return from the Select Issue screen.
