Adding stock can be a lengthy process. Often stock will have similar descriptions prices and other details. Retailer makes it easy to add stock items with similar descriptions by allowing you to copy the details of another stock item and make small changes. This is particularly useful when you have multiple items where the only difference between them is the colour or size.

Add a Similar Stock Item

If the stock wizard does not appear when you add a new item, click HERE to enable it.
  1. From the main screen of Retailer, click on Stock -> Stock Screen.
  2. Click on Add.
  3. Scan or type in the product’s barcode. If the product doesn’t have a barcode, press [Alt]+[G] on your keyboard to have Retailer automatically generate one for you.
  4. If you wish, you may assign a PLU to this item. A PLU, or Price Lookup Unit, is a short alphanumeric code used to refer to a stock item. For example, the PLU for a gift box could be GIF.
  5. Click Next.
  6. At the top of the screen, click the Find Similar Item button.
  7. In the Find a Stock Item screen, select an existing stock item which is similar to the one you’re adding. This will bring across various details about the existing item such as description, department/category, and cost/retail prices, which you may then modify later.
  8. You can continue through the rest of the Add Stock Wizard making any changes to the pre-filled information.
The Use Last Arrived button works similarly to the Find Similar Item button, but automatically selects the stock item that you most recently arrived.
