Weight Embedded Barcodes

Weight Embedded Barcodes

A Weight Embedded Barcode is a barcode that contains a product code and a dynamic weight inside the barcode. They are often used by scales to price products by weight.
This can be a 4 digit or 5 digit Product Code and must be added to the Stock Item as the PLU with a X prefix. E.g. X1234 or X12345

Below is a list of the Weight Embedded Barcode formats that Retailer can interpret.
For the examples, the following key applies:
U = PLU, F = Filler (doesn't matter what number), = Weight to 3 decimals,
= Weight to 2 decimals, C = Check Digit

Length = 13 digits
Prefix 02 – Weight from Character position 8 for 5 Characters
      Example 4 digit PLU: 02FUUUUWWWWWC
      0201234921455 = PLU X1234 & Weight = 92.145

      Example 5 digit PLU: 02UUUUUWWWWWC
      0211234014002 = PLU X11234 & Weight = 1.400

Prefix 22 – Weight from Character position 9 for 4 Characters
      Example 4 digit PLU: 22FUUUUFYYYYC
      2201234021450 = PLU X1234 & Weight = 21.45

      Example 5 digit PLU: 22UUUUUFWWWWC
      2271234015001 = PLU X71234 & Weight= 1.500

Length = 12 digits
Prefix 2 – Weight from Character position 7 for 5 Characters
      Example 4 digit PLU: 2FUUUUWWWWWC
      201234921455 = PLU X1234 & Weight = 92.145

      Example 5 digit PLU: 2UUUUUWWWWWC
      241234016003 = PLU X41234 & Weight = 1.600

Info
The system will try to find items with 5 digit PLU first, then if it cannot match any, retry using the 4 digit PLU.

If the weight is less than the number of digits for the chosen type, all fields must be padded with zeroes.
For example, a 5 digit weight barcode when the weight of the item is 4.32 would be 0211234043204.

The weight cannot exceed the number of digits.
For example, a format with 5 characters for weight cannot exceed 99.999
