When using an EDI system such as XchangeIT, all the client/slave computers need to be able to access the C: drive on the server/main computer to import invoices from and send returns to. This is done by creating a shortcut to the drive through a process called mapping.

If this has not been set up or fails to map, one of the following error messages will appear when starting Retailer:

Server Mapping Options have not been setup. To enter these settings go to Setup -> System -> General, otherwise you may not be able to access EDI files or create Sales files.
If necessary, click the Advice Sheet button for help on checking your Network settings and then try running Retailer again

Unable to map \\main\c to N:\ drive. You may not be able to access EDI files or create Sales files.
Please click the Advice Sheet button for help on checking your Network settings and then try running Retailer again

Requirements

  • All Computers need to be on a Private Network
  • C: drive on server/main is shared with full permissions.
  • Username and password on client/slave is also set up on the server/main.
For example: On POS1, the username is POS01 with a password of 1111 and on POS2, the username is POS02 with a password of 2222. The same usernames and passwords needs to be set up on server/main.
  • If the usernames do not have a password, the server/main needs to be configured to allow blank passwords.
