Setting up a Socket S700 Bluetooth Barcode Scanner
The Socket Mobile S700 is a Bluetooth barcode scanner that can be paired with any device featuring Bluetooth, such as a tablet or Windows device, offering handheld mobility compared to traditional stationary scanners. They are usually paired with an iPad, tablet, or laptop for stocktaking using the Retailer or Roam software.
These instructions are for the Socket S700 scanner only. Do not follow these steps for other scanners.Socket S700 Setup and Pairing
Follow the steps below before using your Socket S700 barcode scanner.
- Charge your Socket S700 scanner using the included charging cable.
- Turn on your Socket scanner by holding the power button until it emits two beeps.
- It will then enter pairing and programming mode. Scan the Basic Keyboard Mode (HID) programming barcode below or from the attached PDF named 'Socket S700 Programming Sheet.pdf'.

- (Optional) If you sell magazines, print the attached 'Socket S700 Programming Sheet.pdf' and scan the autodiscriminate UPC/EAN with supplementals programming barcode to enable the scanner to recognise magazine barcodes with the 2-digit addenda.
- On the device you wish to pair the Socket scanner with, go to your Bluetooth devices list. It may appear as Socket S700 or Socket Device-PreInit.
- On Apple devices, open Settings → Bluetooth.
- On Android devices, open Settings → Connected devices → Pair new device.
- On Windows devices, open Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Add device → Bluetooth.
Resetting Socket S700 Scanner Back to Default Settings
Sometimes it may be necessary to reset the Socket S700 barcode scanner to its default settings. This might be due to an error caused by other programming barcodes or because the scanner is acting unpredictably. To reset the scanner, follow these steps:
- Remove the Socket S700 from your host computer or connected device.
- Scan the following Factory Reset programming barcode.

- (Optional) If you are unable to scan the above barcode, print out the 'Socket S700 Programming Sheet.pdf' from the bottom of this article and scan the Factory Reset barcode.
- The Scanner will automatically power off. Turn it back on and scan the Basic Keyboard Mode (HID) barcode located at the top of this article or on the 'Socket S700 Programming Sheet.pdf'.
- Re-pair the Socket scanner with your host computer or device again.
