Performing a Manual Backup

  1. Close Retailer on ALL computers.
  2. On the SERVER/MAIN computer, plug in the USB drive. A screen like the one below should appear after several seconds. Take note of the drive letter.

  3. Double-click on the RetailerV3 Backup icon on the desktop.
  4. In Archive File, this is the location where the backup will be saved. You need to make sure that the first letter matches the drive letter of the USB.
(In the example, the USB's drive letter is F so the Archive File field should read F:\R3data.ret)
  5. Alternatively, you can click on the yellow folder icon to browse to the location to save the backup to.

  6. We recommend that you do not tick Format Backup Media prior to backup. This setting clears the entire USB drive before performing the backup.
  7. Tick Show last successful backup in Main Screen. This shows a message on the bottom right hand corner of Retailer saying when the last successful backup was.
  8. Click on Backup Now. This can take some time, depending on the size of your database and the speed of your computer.
  9. When you see the Backup Completed Successfully screen, you may close Retailer Backup.
When creating a backup, Retailer saves the backup to C:\Tower\Retailer\AutoBackup and then copies that to the USB drive. This additional copy can then be accessed if the USB drive is faulty or missing.
