Group Stock Issues - Assigning Magazine Parents & Children

Group Stock Issues - Assigning Magazine Parents & Children

This is for Newsagencies Only
Group Stock Issues allows you to assign child issues to their correct parent magazine. In Retailer, the parent magazine will be highlighted in yellow on the stock search screen, and should always show the most recent issue arrived. The parent is what is used to create orders, putaways, and POS buttons. The individual issues of the magazine are the children of this parent - they have different barcodes from each other, and are used to track stock quantities for arrivals and returns. Group Stock Issues should only be used if you see that there is a problem with your magazines - eg. putaways are not generating when arriving the magazine.
Warning: This feature does not check or update customer paper/magazine orders, and whether they are correctly setup.

To view the current child issues of a parent magazine, find the parent in the stock screen, then click the Issues button to see a list of the child issues. To find the current parent of a child issue, find the child in stock screen, then click Issues, then Parent Details.
A common problem with magazine parents is having 2 parents for the same magazine title. If your magazine has multiple parents, do not use this feature to try and fix it. Instead, follow the guide to merging parents together HERE.

Assigning Child Issues to Parents

  1. From the main menu screen of Retailer, go up the top to Stock Maintenance -> Group Stock Issues.
  2. In the first box, enter the PLU of the parent or press [Enter] and find the parent in the list. Warning: If you select a non-parent item, it will be turned into a parent. You should never have 2 parent items for the same magazine title.
  3. In the bottom box, scan or search for the issues of the magazine that should be assigned to the parent you chose above. You can add multiple child items here if needed.
  4. Press Group.
