Early returns is a fantastic way to reduce your shop supply for non-performing titles. It checks each title as it is being arrived to see if it meets the early returns criteria and will prompt you for the quantity you wish to send back if the criteria are met.

Setting Up Early Returns Criteria

  1. From the main screen of Retailer, go to Setup -> Newsagency -> General.
  2. Click on the Early Returns tab. The options on the screen are explained below:
    A. Returns for that same stock item, Determines the number of previous returns that Retailer will check to meet the criteria for an early return.
    B. Select between always been more than or an average higher than the value of the next option
    C. Percent of these stock items returned.
    For Example: In A you picked 4. in B you selected average and in C you chose 50%. This means that when you arrive a magazine, Retailer will check the returns of the last 4 issues. If, on average, more than half the mags arrived were returned, you will be prompted to perform an early return.
  3. Tick the Automatically Print Early Returns Label tick-box if you want labels to print for magazines that are early returned.
  4. Click on Save, then Close.

Setting Up Suppliers for Early Returns

  1. From the main screen of Retailer, click on Stock Maintenance -> Suppliers and Departments.
  2. Click on the Suppliers tab.
  3. Search for a particular supplier that you wish to perform early returns to by clicking on the magnifying glass icon.
  4. Click on the Newsagency tab.
  5. Tick the Prompt for Early Returns tick-box.
  6. Click Save and then Close.

Performing an Early Return

  1. Arrive your invoices through Invoice Arrivals as normal.
  2. As each item is arrived, Retailer checks its returns history. If the history meets the criteria set above, a screen will appear with the return history.
  3. Using the information provided, you can decide how many copies you wish to early return. Type the desired early return figure into Qty to Early Return.
  4. Click on Save, then Close.
  5. The early return is then saved directly into your Stock Return screen.
